Born in Sylvester, Ga and raised in Albany, Steve Cantrell has always aimed to inspire as a creative. He began skating around age 5, but wasn’t introduced to jam skating until the age of 12 by his skate partner, Jason Baker. The two, Jason & Steve, would later form the “Bany Boys” jam team, creating a shift in the community when it comes to style and flavor that would follow Steve and become sort of a staple for him today. Starting out as a freestyle skater, getting into jam was interestingly both a challenging and a smooth transition that he was more than willing to take on. Having the freestyle background, being a recording artist, and a bboy in a historical breaking crew called TBB all make Steve’s style and lens as eclectic as it is. In skating, he prides himself on being exciting to watch, knowledgable, and a contributor to culture. His home rink is Stardust 2 Skate Center in Albany, Ga, but he enjoys any rink that is welcoming with good vibes. To this day, Cantrell looks to push the envelope in hopes to inspire individuality and the inspired to actively chase whatever dreams their hearts may desire.
