It’s a nice day in Austin, TX and little ones of Hornsby Elementary School have gone on a field trip to the local skating rink. One kid in particular, had his father present to teach him the ropes. Despite this help, the kid fell and had his hand rolled over; this kid is Darryl Demps. Even after his bittersweet rink visit, Darryl simple wanted to learn cool tricks on skates, but it was not until years later when he got into jam skating. Being a double major in Communication Design & Painting, Demps encountered adversity in his journey as a college student yet found ways to overcome; much like a kid falling and getting his/her hand rolled over but getting back up to try again. With a colorful personality both on and off skates, he is a breath of fresh air in the community and his home rink, Playland Skate Center. Darryl’s talents are a form of expression that he hopes to use to inspire others to go about things in a positive way.
